When Potato Salad Matters More

     Recently, my oldest daughter was accepted to college. After completing high school with a 4.2 GPA, she was awarded the Presidential Scholarship for the entire 4 years of school. Of course, she also applied for financial aid. We soon realized that there were things that these funds would not cover.     In an attempt to raise funds to help cover these costs, I began a fundraiser. Since the start of the fundraiser, we have yet to even reach the halfway mark. Needless to say, that realization was disheartening. So...I decided to look up some of the most ridiculous fundraisers that actually raised money. I was horrified.     The one that stood out the most was the man who wanted to raise $10 to make potato salad. In the end...he raised tens of thousands of dollars. Yet, here it is...a fundraiser that is intended to assist a remarkable young lady further her education is struggling. No...we cannot tell people what to do with their money. In lieu of this seemingly never-ending pandemic, and so many other things taking place…someone needs to know that its okay NOT to be okay. Believe it or not, I didn’t know this until recently. I’m sure you’ve heard the old saying, “No use in crying over spilled milk.” I now know, that the saying is false. Recently, a bowl of spilled milk did exactly that. It made me break down in tears.
